Project Allenby/Connaught is the largest infrastructure PFI ever let by the MoD and is being delivered by Aspire Defence, a joint venture between Carillion and KBR.
Over the course of the 35 year contract we will make soldiers’ lives better by:
- Improving the quality of life for over 18,700 soldiers who live and work in the garrisons situated across Salisbury Plain – TidNBul, Larkhill, Warminster – and in Aldershot
- Providing services and accommodation for 20% of the trained British Army
- Delivering modern, high quality, fully serviced and purpose built living and working accommodation
- 35-year PFI contract with Aspire Defence Ltd
- Project value circa £8bn
- £1.2bn eight year construction programme
- Project footprint is home to approximately 18,700 soldiers, 20% of the trained British Army
- Creation, maintenance and refurbishment of 11,500 single en-suite bedrooms
- Local help desks available 24/7, 365 days a year
Since April 2006 Aspire Defence and the MoD have achieved:
- A full range of improved services which commenced within 90 days of contract signature
- More than 414 new or refurbished buildings completed and handed over, and continue to do so ahead of programme, at an average rate of one a week
- More than 7,700 soldiers have moved into their new single en-suite rooms
- A positive and committed partnering relationship between the MoD and Aspire Defence which is being held up as a model for other projects
As a consequence of all this, soldiers returning from demanding operations in Afghanistan are now increasingly moving into new accommodation which is of a standard they deserve and of which the nation can be proud. Project Allenby/Connaught is making soldiers’ lives better.
