Aspire Defence works closely with numerous local and regional statutory bodies and government agencies with an emphasis on consultation as proposals are developed. Four local planning authorities regulate the sites which are being developed. The planning authorities are responsible for granting planning permission and listed building consent for over 500 buildings.
Regular meetings are held with the statutory bodies such as the Environment Agency, Natural England and English Heritage to validate proposals and provide feedback on the Project’s progress.
To provide consistency across the Project as a whole, Wiltshire Council has been appointed to administer building control via a network agreement with the other local councils with Birmingham City Council providing approval for plans.
In Aldershot, Aspire Defence is delivering a construction and refurbishment programme that will result in a dramatic change in the profile of the whole area.
Significant areas of land to the south of the Basingstoke Canal will be released as new accommodation and facilities are constructed in North Camp and the existing St Omer Barracks allowing the geographical footprint of the garrison to be reduced.
Land released will be returned to the MoD for inclusion in the Aldershot Urban Development Programme, a joint initiative between the MoD and Rushmoor Borough Council.
