Music is always a great way to bring people together and the Tidworth Area Festival is an opportunity for families to enjoy a day collectively. Following the publication of the Tidworth Community Area, Community Plan in 2003, and building on the success of previous community events, Tidworth Development Trust, with the support of Aspire Defence, are organising a Family Funday that will take place at Castledown School on 31 July 2005.
Residents of the Community identified their interest in a funday through research carried out as part of the community planning process. The Trust has acted swiftly in response and as a result this year’s event will be bigger than ever before. The Tidworth Area Festival, or TAF as it is rapidly becoming known, will take place between 10 am and 6pm on 31 July. Steve Lawton, Chief Executive of Tidworth Development Trust said “The Festival has grown from an acorn into a small tree. We are confident that it will continue to grow into a strong and substantial tree that will provide new and worthwhile support to key projects and schools in our locality”.
The day promises to be an exciting one day festival of music and fun for all the family. With music from up and coming bands such as 4th BASE (previously known as ICE), Dragonheart, GB3 and Lush, some of whom have already performed at large events and on national TV. The audience will be sure to enjoy vibrant and colourful performances from nationally recognised artists. There will be a full programme of activity throughout the day for the whole family including arena displays and exhilarating fun fair rides. The day will offer great value for money, an adult ticket to the whole day is just £3.00, with free parking next to the event site. Profits from the event will be used to support community and school projects in the Tidworth Community Area.
Much of the festival has been made possible by sponsorship from Aspire Defence who will be providing resources and funding to help with the many arrangements necessary to enable an event like this take place. James Thoden Van Velzen, Garrison Facilities Director for TidnBul has been at the centre of the Aspire commitment to the festival, “Aspire will be a part of the local communities around Tidworth for the next 35 years, and it is important that we play an active role in activities like the Tidworth Area Festival” he said.
