Army Benevolent Fund

Over 100 people had a curry lunch at the Aspire Business Centre in April to help raise funds for The Army Benevolent Fund (ABF).

The ABF, one of Aspire’s nominated charities, held the World’s Biggest Curry Lunch on Thursday 24 April and we joined in. A special curry buffet menu was served in the restaurant at a price of £4 per head, with £1 from each lunch going directly to the ABF’s fundraising pot. Col (Retd) Tony Moorby, regional director of fundraising for the charity collected a cheque for just over £100 from Val Stirrett, Facilities Manager for the ABC, plus those who had worked in the restaurant cooking and serving the meals – left to right, Col (Retd) Tony Moorby; Dayaram Rai, kitchen porter; Chris Moreman, steward; Sharon Thomas, chef; Val Stirrett.

Tony said, “We are thrilled that the staff of Aspire Defence supported the Army Benevolent Fund's World’s Biggest Curry Lunch initiative this year. Thank you all for your support for this event and also for everything else you help with, including of course the Early, Early Christmas Fair in Tedworth House on the last Wednesday in September every year. We hope that the World’s Biggest Curry Lunch will also become an established annual event and that Aspire Defence will continue to support that as well.

Thank you all very much indeed for your support for the soldiers' charity and all the money you have raised will go to help soldiers, former soldiers and their dependants who are in need.”
